Rainy Day Baking

Today I was car-less, it was raining, I didn't want to clean the house, and I was tired of the computer. So, what could I do? I decided to...

BAKE!

I made an apple cake and monkey bread. Both were new recipes, and neither turned out spectacularly, but the family appreciated them. And Luke helped me too: he likes to "bang" eggs.

Did you use the monkey bread recipe in the Leonard cook book? Sometimes monkey bread is hit or miss...depends on the freshness and quality of the biscuits used. And you have to boil the glaze a bit before you poor it over the bread. Usually, Monkey bread TASTES good even if it doesn't LOOK good!!

Joyce,
I use yeast dough, not biscuits. This time I tried an idea I read about for the caramel flavor: I sprinkled a box of dry butterscotch pudding mix over the rolls. (Someone in this house had opened a box and used just a little of it) It worked, but we prefer the boiled topping I usually use. I'll probably stop messing around and stick with my original recipe.
